I need support with this Social Science question so I can learn better.
Respond by Day 6 to at least two colleagues by expanding on their posts regarding what social workers can do to ensure that clients/populations receive necessary mental health services. In your response, explain the ethical responsibility related to mental health care in host settings that social workers must uphold when they encounter conflicts in administration and professional values. For example, how might you balance insurance, service, and continuity of care?
Support your response with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.

Explanation of those emerging issues in the mental health care arena that the policymakers address and those that need policy advocacy and why:
According to the textbook, emerging policy issues ,the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental disorders have been around since 1952, the fifth additional came out in 2013, it became a policy tool because it recognized diagnosis is necessary for getting approval for third party payments, like insurance companies or Medicaid. The problem is that so far there is not much scientific explanation for what causes the symptom. Another problem is that the manual makes a lot of everyday behaviors into possible diseases. The National Institute of Mental Health is responding to the challenge of basing diagnoses on biology and neuroscience, they hope to find the genetic markers, brain circuits chemical imbalances, and neurotransmitters behind the symptoms the goal was to produce this by this current year. Defenders of the DSM say that it continues to give common language to clinicians (Popple, Leighninger,2019).
Explain what strategies social workers might use to ensure that clients/populations receive necessary mental health services:
Social workers employed with mental health clinics play a vital role in addressing and treating mental health issues. Through the roles social workers assume, they can collaborate in the improvement of the lives of the people they serve. Their roles can vary from client to client, providing a variety of experiences daily. help patients to recover from a variety of mental illnesses and addictions, also help them to secure employment and housing, and otherwise establish and maintain control over their lives. You will observe and monitor the interaction of a variety of life factors in patients, including how heredity and genetics interact with environment, lifestyle, and social circumstances. Your duties may also require you to interview clients, perform mental and physical evaluations, and collaborate with professionals in related fields. You will plan, coordinate, and modify treatment plans for patients, supervise other social workers, and perform administrative duties (NASW,2020).

Three licensed hospitals, including one for substance abuse treatment; Four nursing homes, including three for veterans. A Forensics program; and. A Sexually Violent Predator Treatment Program. DMH provides services to approximately 100,000 patients per year, almost 30,000 of whom are children. Provides services regardless of ability to pay, department of mental health accepts private insurance, Medicaid, Medicaid reimbursements equals the cost of services, these are all services provided from any person suffering from mental health disorders.

Post an explanation of those emerging issues in the mental health care arena that the policymakers address and those that are in need of policy advocacy and why.
One emerging issue that health care providers are struggling with is maintaining the dignity of patients who are involuntarily hospitalized. The Mental Health Act (MHA) was passed to ensure the safety of those struggling with mental illnesses. This act created a “provision for compulsory or involuntary psychiatric care if a person is deemed to be experiencing a mental health condition that is of a nature and/or degree deemed appropriate for care and judged necessary to safeguard the health and safety of the individual or the protection of others” (Chambers, Gallagher, Borschmann, Gillard, Turner & Kantaris, 2014, p. 3). This provision creates dignity issues because a patient is forced to accept treatment without their consent. Policy makers came up with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which “monitors how service providers exercise their power under the Act and to provide a safeguard for service users” (p. 4).
Then, explain what strategies social workers might use to ensure that clients/populations receive necessary mental health services.
I believe as a social worker we can work to improve their sense of dignity. “Strengthening service users’ dignity can increase confidence and satisfaction with care, whereas disrespecting dignity can result in deterioration in both physical and mental health” (Chambers et al., 2014, p. 3). Clients who are not respected will display acts of aggression built from their distress levels. Giving these clients a sense of some control can reduce their chances of feeling powerless or helpless.
Finally, explain the mental health commitment standards and mental health services in your state.
In South Carolina the Department of Mental Health provides psychiatric treatment for people experiencing mental illness. This includes children, adolescents, adults and families. These services include “emergency psychiatric services, assessments, case management, outpatient counseling, and other psychiatric treatment” (Unknown, 2018, p. 1). Also, in the state of South Carolina, Medicaid provides coverage for Behavioral Health Providers. Clients covered under medicaid can be assessed and treated through providers accepting medicaid.
