It is considered by many that owning a car comes with has more drawbacks than benefits. I strongly agree with this statement as even though there is a sense of freedom and luxury associated with cars, I believe that it invites they invite more troubles with high expenditure and traffic congestion.

The advantages of a car seem lucrative. With the possession of a car, the first thing that comes to the mind is the freedom to travel The greatest advantage of a car is that it offers the freedom to travel. One can make the traveling schedule oneself and need not depend on train or bus timings (parallelism). To illustrate, my friend Sara works in Dhulikhel hospital which is an hour‘s drive from Kathmandu. However, the bus for Dhulikhel leaves at 6 AM forcing her to unnecessarily wake up early in the morning unnecessarily. After buying a car last month she bought a car, she is able to leave comfortably at 8 AM. Secondly, a sense of luxury and high status is associated with car ownership. It has become one of the essential possessions to show off to the society.

Although cars have the above-mentioned facilities, its their drawbacks are too huge to neglect. Firstly, owning a car is costly. In Nepal, For instance, an average car in Nepal is priced at 3 million rupees. Even if the initial payment is covered, the maintenance of a car, petrol and parking charges sum up to a large amount shooting up the overall expenditure of a household. Secondly, the issue of traffic congestion due to an increased number of private vehicles like , particularly cars, is a worldwide problem. A single (a = single = one) bus can carry fifty men individuals at a single time whereas a car can carry only four which means that cars take up a lot of road space to carry the equal number of people men. This is supported by a study in China which showed that in the last 5 years, the number of cars increased by 50% with 80% increase in traffic congestion. (The IDEAS are clearly written and explained.)

In conclusion, even though there are a few benefits of cars, they bring in more long-term disadvantages to an individual and to the world in terms of monetary matters and traffic congestion respectively.
