21 century social darwinism custom essay.

As opposed to how things are today in modern times, Social Darwinism was completely different on some aspects. In the 19th century, there were a few parallels. One being the differences others saw in race or skin color. Whites were more favored over African Americans and among that was social class. If you were wealthy, you would hold onto your money and not want to share it with anyone in the lower classes. In the 21st century, there are also programs to help the lower income families with finances as opposed to 19th century when lower income individuals would just have to fend for themselves. More people today are viewed as equals but there are still some discrepancies with race and gender every now and then, but not nearly as much as it was in the 19th century. Men were also seen as superior to women because people in the 19th century believed that men were more capable of rational thought since they had to learn to hunt and protect their families at an early stage in their life.

In a political sense, Social Darwinism fits in with the type of political thinking, where politicians will do anything to persuade you to be more political right (Republican), or political left (Democrat). These politicians also try to outdo one another while putting each other down in any way they can to win the vote instead of focusing on the people themselves. They worry more about competition and money instead of persuading us that they are good candidates and will ensure the changes that we need. Social Darwinism most relates to the political right view in a sense where the people would want a small government and their own individual land, and unplanned or unstructured economy. On the opposite side of the spectrum where someone wouldn’t agree with Social Darwinism, they would likely want a structure in their economy and a bigger government.
