Analyse and develop a report based on the scenario below.

Scenario

Brown Coal Primary School in Victoria has been closed for the past 10 days because the local open cut coal mine has been on fire. The community in the town of Brown Coal has been talking about fire and the effect on people’s health. The fire is now under control and the children are returning. There is a lot of discussion around the fire and how this has affected the local community. The principal thinks it’s a good idea to work through some of the emotions the children are feeling with a science project that examines how the fire happened and the effects of the fire on the town.

Mr Benjamin and Ms Newcombe are the grade two teachers at this school. Mr Benjamin thinks it’s a good idea to invite Jim the firefighter to talk to the children about how they put out the fire and for the children to write a
story about it. Ms Newcombe is looking for a different approach to support the children’s wellbeing and learning about the coal mine and the fire.

You will need to undertake the following tasks and develop the findings into a team report.

1.Analysis of the scenario (225words;).
write a 225 word analysis about the scenario through which you will identify potential issues with traditional teaching and learning practices in the scenario.

 

2.Examination of new practices, partnerships and technologies for teaching and learning (600 words). Each team member will conduct independent research and examine new teaching and learning practices that would be relevant to and support teaching and learning in relation to the scenario. Consider new technologies and internal and external partnerships that would enhance learning and address Ms Newcombe’s wellbeing concerns. Each team member will need to provide an analysis and propsed strategy based on their findings, to add as a section to place in the team report.
