Domestic violence is traumatizing, difficult for any adult to cope with; a child witnessing the abuse can be affected for the duration of their life. The consequences
of exposure can reach them at several different levels or points of growth; noticeable by behavior issues to poor functioning. The child’s physical, mental, and social
development are affected and become apparent throughout different stages of development. The impact or harm to the child can be severe enough to create limitations
within their daily lives; to forever cope with the permanent damage inflicted by ongoing violence in the home. Children exposed to domestic violence tend to experience
as research has shown, a variety of mental health issues; ex: depression, anxiety, suicide, substance abuse, alcohol abuse; along with displaying criminal behavior is
quite common. Many of these youths are diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; or something notable related to the psychological distress endured that is
evident by the multitude of symptoms displayed by the child.

The OVERVIEW portion of the paper will ensure that you have an understanding of the general topic as evidenced by a literature review. The overview should be nine
pages, minimum, double spaced pages in length and should be in paragraph form. You must follow APA format, and use 1” margins and 12 pt font. The title page and
abstract do not count toward the nine page minimum. A minimum of 10 references are required, and at least 8 of the references must be from scholarly publications (i.e.
journal articles, not websites). Wikipedia, your text book, or the dictionary will not count as one of the 10 minimum references but can be supplemental references.
