This week is our second lecture on corridos and narco-corridos.
Last week I posed the question; how does NAFTA impact corridos? Many of you were on the right track in discussing the violence and poverty that has plagued Mexico as a
result of the implementation of NAFTA.
In the provided PowerPoint, I will explain the role of NAFTA in Mexico and its impact on the development of Mexico’s culture and subsequently, narco-corridos.
Essentially, NAFTA creates deep poverty in Mexico, and also violence, due to the increase in drug trafficking. As a result, a new form of corridor is born. Remember
that music movements always follow social movements.
MIDTERM PROMPT BELOW
