Lab Report Using the data on filters with water only:

 

Determine and plot the mass or volumetric flow rates for each run. Determine the effect of varying pressure drop on flux rate. (The pressure drop for the cross flow filters is the mean of the retentate side pressures). If you can, use the data to estimate the membrane permeability, Lp (ms-1psi-1) Using the data with the Protein (cross-flow)

 

Plot the mass or volumetric flow rate over time Compare this with the flow rate when water is used. Discuss any apparent differences between the two in terms of the theory of cross
flow filtration.

If possible, perform a mass balance on the proteins in the cross-flow systems to
determine recovery. Explain any protein loss if it is observed. Interpret the images of the protein gels For the diafiltration apparatus Plot the following over time for each run

P(ps) filtrate collected (ml) permeate conductivity Determine the extent of buffer exchange using the conductivity data. State your
assumptions. Plot % buffer exchange versus DV. You will need to be able to convert the conductivity result into a %DV.
