This is a report for my first clinical day.. I arrived before my preceptor Michael and I started the round with one of the
coordinator Rosana who I met on my meeting with Michael. During the day. I was getting familiar with the routine of nurse I
manager of post-anesthesia care unit PACU. Then, the anthologist came through the door and talked straight to Michael about
a situation he faced on the OR. The OR was running out of Ringer lactate solution and there is a new solution called Normosol
that work same as Ringer Lactate. the problem was that anthologist cannot order it because it’s not the Epic. He was talking
fast and did not explained the full situation. Michael was calm and said I will locked at it. After that, he made some calls and
assigned NP and one of the Rosana to check that out. After 2 hours of dealing with this situation we found that the OR does not
has the Normosol yet they just order it but did not receive it and that why it was not added on Epic. Michael and I set and
analyze the situation from leadership perspective. There was miscommunication because the anthologist did not have full idea
of the situation and his communication was poor. It cost Michael and the team time, effort which could be avoided by having a
good conversation with the anthologist. This situation stood me out because it reflects how poor communication could affect
the work in different way. The NP had to do pain lecture which she was late to because she was checking this new solution,
Rosana and I were suppose to discuss a project the unit are working on and we could not do it until we figure out this issue.
Michael was calm and said that this situation had happened from this anthologist before and he will have a meeting with the
director about it. I learned that listing is the most important skill leaders should have. Also, his temper was controlled all the
time. He handled the situation professionally.

Another situation that stood me out at the coordinator meeting, one of the coordinator mentioned that a one of the nurses has
a problem with break time. The coordinators and Michael talked about this nurse openly, they agreed that there is some
changes in her personality in the last few weeks. And then they started to refer to the reasons of these changes in funn wa
Michael was just listing and redirect the coordinator in friendly way to the main topic. This situation showed me how . diet willare playing. They were taU<ing freely
and friendly and Michael was leading the meeting effectively. It gave me a feeling that
they were more than a professional team. they were family together. backing for each other and actively listing. I liked his way
of leading the meeting. giving each of the 3 coordinators time to share her concerns. and discuses without any rush. As first
day. I was impressed by the team working and cooperation on the unit and off course with Michael’s personality
