Order Description

 

Demonstrate critical reflection on the topic of health professional communication by writing a reflection of an event or issue experienced whilst on clinical placement or related to your own experience of health professional communication.

You can chose any topic related to health professional communication highlighted in the context of this unit. The reflection can relate to a variety of issues, including, but not limited to: something experienced on your last clinical practice, a personal experience of yours that related to difficult or strained communication or anything that resonates with this topic. The reflection may relate to something that did not go well or may relate to an experience that appeared to have a positive outcome.

You should choose an event or issue that has allowed you to link literature and evidence to your practice or personal experience and where you have utilised available resources. The entry should be a minimum of 3-5 pages in length (maximum of 1500 words) & demonstrate the application of a reflective framework of your choice (although Gibbs (1988) is recommended).

 

Your reflection assessment should be formatted as per UNE guidelines specified in Moodle.

 

The marking criteria are provided on the following pages to assist you in this reflection assessment. Reflections (once marked and returned) can also be added to your personal ePortfolio.

The key to developing this assignment to completion is to engage with the model of reflection and incorporate this into the format used in this assignment. You can also discuss your ideas and thoughts about developing this assignment with your student peers and academic staff or unit coordinator. The best advice I can offer here, is to seek advice and clarify with the unit coordinator what you plan to write about and how this will be translated into an assessable piece of work.

You should include a title page (with your name / student number / unit code / unit coordinator / due date and words included) and seek guidance by carefully considering the marking rubric and model of reflection as this will be used to assess your work.

5. analyse and apply professional responsibility and accountability for effective communication in healthcare contexts
