Oedipus the King
Figures of speech are significant in poetry, storytelling, and drama. Identify important figures (metaphor, simile, irony) in Oedipus the King or Fences and in one of the stories we′ve read and argue how they contribute to significant ideas, images, or characters in these works. How do figures of speech contribute to a work′s literary meaning as you read it? Make sure you just don′t identify and describe a variety of figures. Make sure you show how they function in the works given the above. Use relevant terminology. Terminology is important because it captures concepts and ideas that would other wise would be vague or confusing in everyday usage.
