Order Description

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: assignment requires you to use readings covered thus far up to 10-15, which will include pages 117-146, Lesbians Over 60: Newer Every Day in the text, Women and Aging. You are to write a short essay discussing a film or television program that addresses women 60+ years and older. Below are suggested films; you may have another film/television program you’ve seen besides what is listed. Note, however, that all films listed and any film you may choose besides these must have as its central plot the topic or subject of women 60+ years or older. Films that do not meet this criteria will not be graded and returned to you for resubmission.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Write an essay discussing the media of your choice. Your essay must address the following critical analysis components with specific scenes to cited to illustrate:

Intersectionality – Describe nondominant characteristics of the central character(s). Include in your discussion how these characteristics (a) independently impacted the experience(s) of the central character(s) and (b) combined to lessen or worsen the experiences of aging for the central character(s).
Power Analysis – Analyze the social, cultural, economic, and political influences on the degree of control the central character(s) experienced. For example, in what ways did any of these influences empower the central character(s) to excel in her life or what held her back? In what ways did any of these influences compromise or enhance the ability of the central character(s) to enter her last developmental stage of life? What might have been the experience in old age for the central character(s) if obstacles to self-control and self-determination not been present in earlier stages of life?
Your paper will be graded on the following:

Neat paper presentation, in an attached Word document, with name/course/date identification and title of paper (5 pts.)
Submitted as Word Document only (5 pts.)
Technical writing – to include three (3) or fewer errors in spelling, grammar, composition (to include an introduction, body of 2-3 paragraphs, and conclusion in 500-750 words, punctuation, formatting (25 pts.)
Content – Followed instructions for media selection, analysis components addressed (40 pts.)
Relevant inclusion of notes on intersectionality and from appropriate chapters, using author’s name(s) to the selected media source analyzed (25 pts.)
