As seen in Mancur Olson’s argument in The Logic of Collective Action: Public Goods and the Theory of Groups, many political actors—both at the individual and group levels—have a strong desire to create, shape, and influence public policy in the United States. The usual tactics used by these actors rely on education, advocacy, and/or mobilization of interest groups. Pick a social issue or problem that needs legislative reform that you will focus on throughout this course for your capstone project. Discuss who the stakeholders are and what the best course of action to push toward reform could be.
