1. What do you already know about the topic?
Most people who are homeless do not live on the streets. Many individuals, especially homeless families, are hidden from our view; they live doubled up in apartments or in emergency shelters or transitional housing. Veterans are also more likely to experience homelessness compared to the overall population. I hate to say this but, there is an estimated 40,000 veterans homeless on any given night
2. What questions about this topic would you like to investigate?
How many homeless people live in your city or state? How many of these people are children? What are some demographics of homeless people being served by your city shelters and housing programs? How many homeless people are survivors of domestic violence? What is the racial breakdown of homeless people in your city?
3. What challenges do you anticipate as you develop your essay throughout the writing process?
The challenges that I anticipate as I develop my essay throughout the writing process are possibly finding enough information to back up my claims on my topics. Writing my topics on homelessness was the easy part, now I need to narrow the topic further out then just focusing on homeless veterans.
