Order Description

 

 

Focus your attention on the participation and inclusion of vulnerable population group(s) within a particular local government area. You will be provided with a community grant application form from the Moorabool Shire Council. I have also include the PDF version in case there are any formatting issues for those who don’t have Word. You will also need to look at the Community Grants Guidelines 2017.

The towns within Moorabool Shire are: Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Blackwood, Bungaree, Dunnstown, Gordon, Greendale, Lal Lal, Mount Egerton and Myrniong. You are encouraged to base your program around one of these locations but if you want to choose another location, that’s fine too. Here is an outline of each town.

 

 

1-Research an appropriate organisation (you will be writing the application on their behalf…as if you are working for them in a specific role)
2-Choose a vulnerable or socially disadvantaged population group that you feel you need to learn more about (i.e. CALD, low-SES, older people, youth, people with chronic illness).
3-Develop a health promotion program based on this group, in a local setting (i.e. school, club, public housing estate)
4-Your program might focus on one or more of the following: Community engagement, capacity building, confidence building, increasing awareness of services, improving nutrition, increasing retention rates at school, improving literacy levels, social enterprise, behaviour change, etc. We will be working on ideas for this in seminars.
5-You will need to outline capacity-building strategies that will encourage sustainability and the successful implementation of your program.
