Critically discuss one of your pedagogical principles.
Introduction (refer to academic theory, literature and concepts)
• What is the identity of games/game play? – What are the characteristics of games, and how does this relate to how we decide to teach and coach? Relate back to the
context to which you coach/teach (what does the game look like, for you?).
• What is the focus of your assignment? – What is the pedagogical principle that you have decided to use? This might be a conceptual, theoretical or practical concept
covered in the module (e.g. questioning, good game design, perception-action coupling, representation)
• What Pathway will the assignment follow? – In a couple of sentences explain how your pedagogical principles links to teaching/coaching games, and highlight your key
discussion points.
Body (discuss points in an order of your choice, and remember to focus on your pedagogical principle in the context of GAMES pedagogy with use of academic theory,
literature and concepts)
Points you could consider in the body of your essay:
• How does your principle influence long-term player development (consider players’ holistic development – bio/psycho/social)?
• What are the returns for player learning and/or performance when applying your principle?
• What are the trade-offs for player learning and/or performance when applying your principle?

• 1 paragraph drawing together the mini conclusions you made in your paragraphs in the body.
