We have examined different cases of obscene literature works that have generated controversy and have been censored due to their representation of sexuality and bodily
functions. This is an obscene literature class so the book that is being proposed needs to have been banned or challenged in a way. The American Library Association
website for banned books is a good source. The book decision needs to be justified by explaining the work’s relevance for the main ideas covered in class like: “Art
for art’s sake”, Idealism and Realism.
Assessment Criteria: Argument 40% – original thesis/coherent and focused statement.
Evidence 25%: to what extent does the project successfully integrate relevant materials through: Summary, Quotation, Paraphrase?
Organization 25%: Coherent and logical order, focused topic sentences, concise transition sentences, signal phrases
Presentation 10% correct grammar, proofread, overall proficiency, formatting requirements.
