DATA COLLECTION:

1- identify a country or region you wish to assess for public health- You need to
include a map in you data-

2- Compile data on the geo-political boundary, environmental, demographics, and
health care structue- Basic cultual information needs to be included here: race,
ethnicity, major religions, major cultual groups as well as statistics on ages, gender,
education, and socioeconomic levels-

3. Compile statistical data (within the last 3 years and 10 years previously) on infant
mortality rates and five other top health indicators for that country-

4- Collect information on one program or agency which is specifically aduessing the
health indicators in #3- What is the agency and what is the program? (You will
evaluate a program or agency for you presentation earlier so here you only need some
basic description-)

DATA ORGANIZATlON:

5- All data need to be placed in appendices in you paper following APA guidelines for
formatting the appendix- Data include the items mention in #1-4 above-

DATA ANALYSIS:

6- In you paper, analyze the data you have compiled- You can analyze by comparing
and contrasting the data with that of another country or by comparing and contrasting
the curent data with that of 10 or more years ago- Discuss what factors reduce
(primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention) and what factors increase risks
in you selected country- Risks include access to healthcare, access to healthy foods
and active living, crime rates and transportation-

7- Discuss briefly but specifically how cultue, science, technology, economics, and
global politics have interacted to create the curent situation in the country you
selected- Discuss briefly what has been the role of public health nusing and nuses in
this situation?
