ancient egypt
Watch the following video (running time: 16 minutes, 37 seconds) and then answer the question that appears at the end of the video–What do these images from the
coffin of Ankhef and the Book of the Dead of Hunefer tell you about ancient Egyptian society?–in a short essay four to six paragraphs in length. You may watch the
video either by clicking on the embedded video screen below or by clicking on the link that follows further below. The link will allow you to view the video in full
screen. A few words about the video: I originally made it for another class, so please ignore the words ″Quiz Question 2″ at the beginning of the video as well as the
words ″having read and viewed the material presented about ancient Egypt on pages 24-33 of our textbook and in the ′African Civilization′ presentation in the ′Chapter One′
folder inside the ′Content′ area of the course.″ When I made this video I was using a different textbook in the world history course as well as a different online course
site. In our textbook, Worlds Together, Worlds Apart, Volume I, Concise Edition, the relevant pages are 88-93, and the relevant online material can be found inside the
″Modules″ tab in the course site, sections 1.16-1.24 under the heading ″Chapter Two. Rivers, Cities, and First States, 3500-2000 BCE.″ Follow these four tips to compose a
successful short essay: 1. The first, or introductory, paragraph of your essay must do two things: introduce the general topic of your essay and state the thesis or
point of view about the topic that your essay is going to put forward or argue. This thesis statement should consist of at least one or two sentences and should appear
at the end of your first paragraph. 2. The paragraphs between your introductory paragraph and the final, or concluding, paragraph of your essay constitute the main
body of your essay. In the main body you bring forth examples, evidence, and analysis of examples and evidence that support your essay′s thesis statement. For a short
essay four to six paragraphs in length, the main body should consist of at least two but not more than four paragraphs. 3. The concluding paragraph of your essay
should sum up what your essay showed and wind it down. In the process of winding your essay down you′ll want to touch on your thesis statement again–in different words
than you used in the introductory paragraph–in order to hammer home that your essay showed exactly what it said it would in the beginning. 4. Give your essay a
title–you′ll find that a title focuses your thinking on what the thesis of your essay is. Titles are not set in stone: you can have a working title as you write and
change it as your essay develops so that it accurately reflects what your essay is about. The title should be located at the top of your essay. Note that titles of
books, such as the Book of the Dead of Hunefer, are italicized. link to the video: https://www.3cmediasolutions.org/privid/54654?key=
