1) What is the state of war that Hobbes is referring to? Is it a literal state of war where there are battles and armies? Or does he have something else in mind? Elaborate.

2) What is it about human beings that leads them to be in this war-like condition? What enters the picture and leads to a cessation of this war-like natural condition? How?

3) According to Hobbes, what sort of things do we lose when we exist in such a state? Imagine that right now today the police, fire departments, and all parts of the official government is dissolved. What are your concerns, if any?
