I’m working on a sociology writing question and need a sample draft to help me understand better.
I’m writing an essay essay on the topic “The History and Effects of Child Abuse in the United States.” This topic is broad, and I’m having trouble understanding and identifying the best elements and points to cover in my write-up. I have many questions, and I would appreciate any help or tips in clearing them out.
The definition of child abuse differs depending on culture and time, but I feel its ill-treatment or psychological maltreatment of an adolescent, infant, or minor. But I’m not sure using a personal interpretation would fly in my write-up or make it credible. So, how do I approach the child abuse problem? It wouldn’t be appropriate to have multiple paragraphs addressing its definition.
Is it right to put a specific timeline on child abuse’s origins, knowing it’s an act rather than an event? Or would going with its inclusion into law as a crime be most appropriate? And when highlighting its effects, should I only focus on its primary or secondary products? The first former being the psychological, physical, and emotional problems that come with maltreatment. While the latter describes the aftermath of these effects up to adulthood.undefined
I also need your help coming up with a thesis statement for my essay. This sentence defines my write-up and the amount of information I’d have to explain in my work. The effect of child abuse is a broad topic, and I’d hate to take on too much and have to cramp them up in my write-up. How do I come up with a thesis that isn’t too broad or expansive?
One of my writing weaknesses is referencing, and I would appreciate it if you can guide me by appropriately citing my source for this essay. What format would be most appropriate for my expository piece? When I’m quoting in my write-up, how do I avoid these sentences making the bulk of my paragraphs? Can I include only the relevant parts of the quote or paraphrase, rather than inserting their entirety?
I am open to receiving any tips and help to understand and write this expository essay.
