Utilitarianism is one of the leading normative ethical theories. Define utilitarianism; then demonstrate your understanding of utilitarianism by applying it to a contemporary moral issue or a moral dilemma you have encountered in your own life. What verdict does the principle of utility yield in the case you are considering? Would Kant’s Formula of Humanity yield the same verdict? Why or why not?
