Idea generation –1 week to formalize, have concept as shown, need to think of materials, processes, testing, qualification

Concept – 4 weeks (drawings, schematics, performance specifications)
Pre-pilot build – 4 weeks (concept samples for form, fit, function evaluation)
Pilot production run – 8 Weeks (use selected production processes, assume long lead time tooling has been ordered)
Testing
Develop testing methods – 2 weeks
Conduct alternate materials testing – 4 weeks (metal, plastic, urethane)
Test finished pilot samples – 4 weeks
Analysis
Complete cross-functional team review – 8 weeks, include Sales, Marketing, Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, Suppliers, Dealers, Customers
Introduction
Trial run production – 4 weeks (assembly and operating instructions, sellable units)
First production, fulfill orders for distribution – dealer showrooms – 4 weeks
Full production readiness – 4 weeks
