Rites of passage are an important part of the tradition from childhood to adulthood in many cultures. Exploring some of the ways different cultures exercise this important ritual can help to expand your worldview.

In a one page essay, describe three rites of passage that different cultural groups use to mark the movement through puberty. Create a new rite of passage that might work in your own family or group to mark this developmental change. In all four of the rites of passage, be sure to (1) clearly identify the culture, (2) clearly identify the rite of passage, and (3) include a description of what the adolescent experiences.
