Select a port of your choice. Based on the information from the port’s website and other
relevant sources, answer the following questions:
Question 1
Identify and justify the relevance of the pricing method(s) covered in Module 4 that have
likely influenced the development of the port’s main infrastructure tariffs and charges
(here in after collectively referred to as “charges”).
At least two (2) different types of infrastructure charge must be included in the answer.

Question 2
Suppose the port decides to increase the charges mentioned in Question 1, to cover
additional costs arising as a result of implementing the government’s new safety and
environmental regulations.
Propose and explain a method to evaluate the effect of the new charges on the unit
revenue of the port and shipping lines, and the welfare of the shipping lines’ customers.

Question 3
Based on your answers to Questions 1 and 2, discuss the implications for the relevant
government authorities that are responsible for monitoring port charges.
