Assignment # 1 — Conduct an informational interview:
• Identify a person in the field of employment for which you are interested (not a family member or close
friend). Contact them and ask for a 30minute in person (preferably) or over the phone informational interview to
gain knowledge of their industry, company, or position. Create a document summarizing your interview and
include: the person you interviewed and their contact information, the company they represent, the questions you
asked, and the responses given. (Refer to the Informational Interview Guidelines and Sample Questions
document for suggestions on how to prepare for and conduct the informational interview.)
