2.    The attached excel spreadsheet (Problem 2 tab) contains data of the amount of medical supplies that customers spend in a given month at a medical supply store.  Assume this data represents a sample. Recent history has shown that a customer spends on average more than $95 at this store in a given month.

a.    Conduct a one sided hypothesis test at a level of significance of .10 to determine if the sample meets this criteria. (35 Pts)

3.    Studies from the FDA shows that a particular strain of bacteria infection will no longer be contagious if exposure is ordained beyond 36 hours as the bacteria dies within less than 36 hours.    A study was conducted on 121 samples of the bacteria infection.  The samples revealed that the bacteria died on average of 36.8 hours with a standard deviation of 7.25 hours (25 pts)

a.    Test if the 121 sample meets the 36 hour requirement at the  = .05 level of significance
b.    What is the 95% confidence interval values for this study sample

4.    General Hospital has been selected to test the effectiveness of a drug to treat bi-polar disorder.  Recent studies have shown that the drug is effective to 83% of patients who were administered the drug.  You are the director of research at the hospital and you have been asked by the CDC to conduct a test of your patients by administering the drug, to selected patients, and determining effectiveness based on a plan provided by the CDC (20 pts)
a.    Will the study that you conduct be an observation or an experiment, Explain?
b.    Do you need to use a placebo effect for this study
c.    Assume you select 137 patients for the study who were administered the drug to treat bi-polar disorder.  The drug was effective on 106 out of the 137 patients.   To conclude the study, you are to conduct a hypothesis test at a level of significance of .05.  Does the study meet the criteria of recent studies (83%)?
