What learning can you apply from the course, to the reality of the case scenario?
As the course progresses, consider how concepts and content we cover might relate to the case and how you can show you have understood the course overall. You can be as creative as you like! Reviewing the Course Calendar and weekly topics will assist you to ascertain some links.

Case Management: You are a team of workers from a Families SA District centre. The Crisis Response Unit has received a number of child protection notifications for an Aboriginal child aged 10, from his school principal and teachers. Reports indicate concerns about the health of the boy and that he is ?rarely seen with a packed lunch?. Furthermore, the boy has been recorded absent from school for significant periods of time and attends sporadically, so has been classified a Tier 3 referral and ?at risk?. Your team will investigate and determine what is needed.
The principal reports ?issues at home? could be contributing to his absence, citing one example in particular when the child?s mother visited the school and looked ?unshowered? and ?dressed as if she just got out of bed?. In your approach to this investigation, you uncover the child is involved in a community cultural group which often has weekday activities. The department records also indicate the mother has accessed Emergency Financial Relief in the past.
Outline the issues in the referral/case and some approaches you might take in responding to the case and allegations.
