Social movements are large, sometimes informal, groupings of individuals or organizations which focus on a specific political or social issue Dissertation Essay Help

Overview: Social movements are large, sometimes informal, groupings of individuals or organizations which focus on a specific political or social issue. In this past year alone we have seen an unprecedented number of social movements garner mass media attention. From #blacklivesmatter, Alt-Right, marriage equality, campus racial inequality, climate change, to heated arguments concerning gender equality and gun control, to name only a few, people have come together to argue for a “more perfect union” in the press and on social media.
Directions: In your final project you will be exploring a recent social movement which will consider
• The background/history of the movement
• The main arguments for/against the position of your chosen movement
• How your movement is portrayed in the media (in both conservative and liberal outlets)
• Your proposal on how the movement could be more effective – here you will incorporate at least one or two of the political/philosophical frameworks that we’ve discussed this semester
Nitty Gritty Requirements: Students have the option of writing a paper (at least 7 pages, MLA format) that incorporates at least 3-5 scholarly sources – I will also allow you to incorporate 2 credible websites –OR create a website that follows the same criteria in a visual-based format.
