Similarities between William Wallace and Thor son Odin.

There are several similarities between William Wallace and Thor son of Odin. William Wallace was a Scottish knight renowned for the role he played during the Wars of Scottish Independence. After defeating the English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, he was appointed Guardian of Scotland. He served his country in this capacity until 1298, when he was defeated at the battle of Falkirk. He was later captured and delivered to King Edward I of England, where he was charged with high treason and consequently hanged, drawn and quartered. Despite his short-lived career, Wallace has obtained an iconic status across the globe, for his bravery and military prowess.

Like Thor, Wallace was a loyal and honourable warrior. Moreover, his courage and sense of duty were unshakable. The English King had forced the then King of Scotland, John Balliol to renounce his throne after defeating the Scotts at the Battle of Dunbar in East Lothian, In 1926. For this reason, Wallace led an uprising against the tyrannical rule of King Edward. Even though the uprising suffered a blow when the nobles submitted to the English, Wallace continued the rebellion and merged with other freedom fighters. The uprising defeated the English in the Battle of Stirling Bridge despite being vastly outnumbered.  On the bottom line, Thor’s character traits were the ideal toward which the average human worrier aspired. Wallace’s bravery and military prowess can be likened to that of Thor.
