Seclusion versus physical restraint in managing violent behaviours in mental health patients: A systematic review

research proposal for PhD application in nursing. I want to use systematic review in my research. This research aims to find the relevant evidence in order to answer
a clinical question and improve patient care. The clinical question concerns whether seclusion rooms are more effective in managing violent behaviours for patients who
are agitated due to mental illness than physical restraint. As well as this, the search will aim to find the least restrictive and most preferable method for the
patient, and that which leads to improvement in the mental health status and behaviours of aggressive patients. The primary outcome is reduction in these behaviours to
minimise risk to the patient and to others, and then identify the least restrictive method based on the Coercion Experience Scale (CES) as a measurement for
restrictions on human rights. Finally, the analysis will identify the preferable method for the patient to control the situation and achieve a calm state.
The research proposal outline is depend on most uk universities require such as ( title, background, research problem and study aims/research question, relevance of
the proposed study to the university research, proposed study design with justification for choice, overview of proposed data collection methods and analysis technique
with justification for choice, unique contribution of the study to knowledge and what new knowledge might the study provide, brief consideration of practical and
ethical issues, research timetable, references). the research timetable will start from April 2017 and continue until 3 years because the PhD will be 3 years full time
and I would like to start the study on April 2017.
You can write and add your ideas for the research proposal but should be systematic review research because I don’t want to do research that need IRP acceptance due to
personal reasons.
