Article Discussion 1: Research Ethics
In CJS201, you read about the ethical principles outlined in the Belmont Report.  For this first article
discussion, read Logan et al, and respond to the following questions related to ethics in research:
How could participating in a research study be dangerous for someone who is a victim of domestic violence
(also called intimate partner violence)?
The authors listed various groups of people who were included as their “key informants.”  Whom do you
believe was excluded?  Name another group who you believe was excluded.
Describe the recruitment strategies for the focus groups.  What did the researchers do to recruit, and how would you improve upon their strategies?
Share your reaction to the “9 Key Themes” that were deemed “important to consider” in research related to
domestic violence.
