My old paper needs to be revised and developed. The followings are my professor’s comments on my last paper:
1) Personal take — You still do not convey a personal take on the projects you compare. What interests you about these projects? What do you learn from them for your own work? I suspect that your interest is the sustainability, which is a running theme throughout the paper. I think you can combine your first 2 paragraphs, replacing the first few sentences where you talk more broadly about postwar radical architecture with your second paragraph on sustainability. Basically, you should start by defining what sustainability is, and why you consider it to be an interesting issue to study or how it applies to architecture today, then go on to outline how you intend to study sustainability in your comparison of the two projects. Then of course, for your conclusion, you can simply revisit your ideas about sustainability from the introduction, and see if anything has changed since your comparison.
2) Organization — In the introduction, you outlined a good organization for the paper, namely introduction, description of each project, discussion of similarities and differences respectively, and then conclusion. However, reading your paper, I was confused with the section on similarities. There seems to be only one similarity — that both projects have a linear organization. But when it comes to the grid, you only talk about the Continuous Monument; when it comes to the city building / rebuilding itself, you only talk about the Plug-In City. So it seems to me that the last 2 should be under differences, and that there are more differences than similarities between the 2 projects.
3) Correct terms — There is a lot of inconsistency throughout the paper about how you refer to the projects you are writing about. Sometimes you even refer to one of them as “the Archigram”. The correct names for the projects are the “Plug-In City” and “Continuous Monument” — be careful to use this spelling and capitalization everywhere.
4) References — I commented earlier that you don’t need to include citations throughout the paper unless you are quoting verbatim or referencing a unique idea. It is enough to list the books you read in your bibliography.
5) Images — I see that you have added the images with captions. I think you can include more than the 2 images you currently have. You can also do a better job of incorporating the images into your paper: use the images to illustrate what you write about and use your words to describe what is shown in the images.
