Overview: Research memos in qualitative research are notes to yourself.* A research memo is one way to track your thinking, your musings, your hypotheses, your
questions and your plans. Further, notes about ideas from the literature which inform or don’t inform your research may be addressed. Remember that you are doing one
interview; however the assignment requires that you think through the process as if you were conducting a research project. Therefore the following are guidelines to
follow to ensure successful completion of your project.
 Proposal
 • Title
Develop a working title for your interview project. The title may change as you delve into your interview project. The title should get to the core of the project.
The memo should include how you came to the decision for the project. This is the place to explore your subjective and objective reasons for selecting the title. You
may add to this section as you progress through the project as you might gain some insights as to your interest/motives.
