This essay is part of a Consultancy project I am doing for the CMAE. I have chosen a focus area which is “Management Development Programmes: Comparing Transformational v Transactional leadership on employee performance.” The assignment requirements are included below.
Assignment Brief:
Produce an individual essay of 2000 words (MAX) that reviews and critically discusses the academic literature surrounding your project.
The purpose of this assignment therefore is for you to investigate an element of your project in great depth in terms of background reading. This is in essence a review of the literature to an area of your project.
This assessment is for an academic audience rather than an industry audience. As such, you will be required to critically analyse the body of academic knowledge surrounding your project. This includes identifying, reviewing and critically discussing key theory as it relates to your project.

Try to take a focused view, a focused view can allow you to demonstrate critical analysis and writing, which is essential for your dissertation and other units.
Assessment Criteria and weightings
This assignment contributes a maximum total of 45% towards the marks available for the whole unit. However, it will initially be marked out of 100% on the following basis:
1. SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING, 40%
To demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of the subject through wide reading.
Exploration and use of up-to-date sources.
Develop a conceptual understanding of the area
2. CRITICAL ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION, 45%
To demonstrate an ability to diagnose and apply appropriate and selective conceptual knowledge to a practical problem/situation.
To present a tightly structured, rigorous argument showing flow and progression. Through critical analysis, this should produce valid, creative/original solutions, which are logical, meaningful and effective.
3. PRESENTATION STYLE, 15%
To layout the work considering: structure and logical argument, clear and correct use of English Language, Reference List, in-text reference presentation.
