Discussion Posting 4: Legal and Ethical Dilemmas in the News
Clinicians and administrators, and ultimately the organizations for which they work, have duties and responsibilities they must adhere to each and every day. Unfortunately, we hear about breaches
of these duties and responsibilities far too frequently.
Find a current (preferably within the past year ) health care example of a breach in ethical and/or legal duty from either a clinician, manager, employee or facility. Provide the link of your news
source as well. Discuss the dilemma, the lacking ethical principles, and what could have been done to avoid the incident.
Please note that there is a difference between ethical theories, ethical principles, and virtues-values. Refer to Chapter 1 for further information.
