The given bar chart illustrates the number of prisoners in five different nations during the given five six decades.

Overall, the Great Britain witnessed continuously (adverb with a verb) increasing imprisonment from 1930 to 1980, while other countries experienced slight fluctuations and finally decrease in numbers of punished people. (decrease with respect to what? Missing information.)

Among the five countries, the Great Britain had the least number of prisoned persons prisoners all throughout the period (not in 1970 and 1980), though it saw the ever-increasing trend and in 1980 the figures reached the peak in 1980, (the modifier gives quality of 1980, not of the peak) almost four times of that in 1930. On the other hand, Australia and New Zealand, witnessed first the a fall in numbers of jailed persons between 1940 to 1950, followed by subsequent rise later. Though, However, in 1980, there was again a dramatic fall in imprisonment in Australia and counted for , among all countries, it had the least number of prisoners, approximately 50 thousand.

(Though Australia and New Zealand followed a similar pattern during this period, from 1930 to 1940 the former had a moderate fall in the number of prisoners and the latter witnessed a dramatic decrease. Thereafter, both countries had a consistent increase till 1970. While Australia witnessed a sudden fall in imprisonment from 1970 to 1980, New Zealand maintained the trend of consistent increase.)

The United States and Canada always stood on the top and (on the top is the same as jailed maximum persons.) jailed maximum persons during the given period (Elaborate this in one sentence). While Canada had this distinction in 1930 and 1950, the United States imprisoned the maximum number of people in the remaining decades. The numbers for both countries widely fluctuated during this period. In 1980, United States surpassed all the figures and when their its numbers touched a high of 140 thousand.
