You should propose a research study that will examine some aspect of identity theft. Remember that you have complete autonomy in determining what aspect you wish to study, but that you should examine an aspect that makes a meaningful contribution to the field of criminal justice. For example, you can design a study to test how well Routine Activities Theory explains Identity theft, and design a study to evaluate an intervention designed to curb identity theft.
As you summarize your proposed research study, you should identify what your hypotheses are, discuss the research design you will employ, who/what will be your sample, what your sample will do in this study, what data you will collect, and what statistical technique(s) you would use to analyze these data (and why). Please be sure to identify for your reader how you have operationalized your independent and dependent variables (and any control variables you may need to measure).
