Please read the problem very carefully and follow all of the instructions. You may use any resource whatsoever in addressing these questions, but you may not discuss these questions with any living person except for me. The quiz is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday, April 12.

Problem: Precipitation!

• For each of two mountainous regions, locate average annual precipitation data at a few precipitation gauges. State your sources of information.
• For each of the two mountainous regions, plot average annual precipitation as a function of elevation and show the best-fit lines with the equations.
• For the two regions, explain why the best-fit lines are either similar or different. You should find helpful Section 4.1 Meteorology, especially 4.1.5 Orographic Precipitation.
