Imagine the following scenario: You are planning a series of trainings for your team of employees on best practices in workplace communication. Your first step is to send out an email highlighting the topics of your upcoming series of trainings.

While our communication with our customers, drivers, and agents are of high importance, how we communicate in the workplace is just as important. Therefore, we will begin a series of training sessions in workplace communication.

Business communication differs from informal and personal communication. Our communication between co-workers should provide practical information. This means the information should be presented as facts, instead of vague impressions. The need to present information in a concise, efficient manner shows the recipient you care about their time. Excellent workplace communication allows the recipient to see or hear how they will benefit by responding the way you need or want them to (Bovee & Thill, 2014).

As we communicate, we need to be aware of the differences in culture of our audience. Also, we need to make sure we are communicating ethically. Sometimes, workplace communication can be difficult as one person’s saying could mean something completely different in another culture. It will be necessary to take in consideration when speaking to another person on your team of their culture, and speak to them accordingly. A necessary skill to take into consideration when communicating in the workplace is to always provide ethical communication. We must make sure our information that we share is accurate, factual, and relevant (Bovee & Thill, 2014).

 

Our new training in workplace communication, will lead us into the realm of social media. In today’s business world, social media is at the forefront of our customer’s reviews. With Facebook and Twitter easy targets for negative publicity, we must ensure we can communication effectively in the workplace as a team to ensure we reflect a great communication relationship with our customers (Bovee &Thill, 2014).
