One function of the mass media is to tell us what we need to know as citizens – citizens of a community, a society, a nation, the world. How do you find out what you need to know about the world around you? Where do you get the pictures in your head? What is one mass media source (a newspaper, a magazine, a TV show, a website, a podcast, a Twitter feed, etc) with which you engage regularly? What does this source tell you? How does it frame what it tells you? How does it select, emphasize, and present a particular image of the world? It may be helpful to focus on one specific story, article, webpage, Tweet, etc.
