In each of the sections you will need to apply the techniques correctly, analyse the results of their application and conclude the implications in relation to
satisfying the project objectives. The plan should be supported by secondary data, such as cases studies of similar projects or sources used to develop your estimates.
These should be included in the references section and follow the HBS Harvard Referencing guidelines.
I will upload a draft with a feedback section which you could use as a guide to complete the 2 sections above.
Below is the actual Project scenario;
Project scenario
As teams of project management students your task is to define and produce a plan to manage the development of a community garden with social facilities. From your
University’s perspective, the strategic objectives are to have a positive social impact in the community. From the local council’s perspective, the strategic
objectives are to improve the health and well-being of community members through increased physical activity, healthy eating, and bringing together different parts of
the community.
You must produce a project plan that could be reviewed by a panel of judges on a competitive basis. The plan must show how the planned garden and facilities will
contribute to the strategic objectives and that meeting the project objectives is achievable. The judging panel would consider the following when deciding which
project should be funded:
1. A budget of £2,000 would be made available for any winning plan. Teams may estimate for additional costs but, to win the competition and receive any additional
funding, teams would need to convince the judges that a significant contribution would be made to the strategic objectives, or how additional costs would be recovered
without charging entrance fees or for use of any basic facilities.
2. It is unlikely that the judging panel would decide on the project before 5th January 2018 and the garden must be ready to handover to the town on or before 31st
March 2018, when a busy local dignitary has been booked to perform the opening ceremony.
3. The number and diversity of local tradespeople and ordinary members of the community involved in the development of the garden and facilities.
4. The number and diversity of people in the community who will be able to benefit from the garden and facilities.
5. The ease with which a small team, mainly volunteers, would be able to maintain the garden and facilities after your project ends.
6. The extent to which the identified site will be transformed. The identified site is a concreted storage yard of approximately 4 acres / 1.6 hectares.
