Developing a Focused Analysis
Order Description
Choose ONE main Analytical Claim / Hotspot about UC’s Internet presence that you will fully analyze in a short essay. Write 2-3 exploratory paragraphs developing your analytical focus.
• You can focus on an aspect of ONE individual site or trace a FEATURE/COMPONENT between two sites. The choice is yours.
• Work for DEPTH, not breadth. You can bring in other aspects of the site, but make sure they help you better analyze your main focus.
• Make sure you provide evidence to back up ALL of your claims. Be as specific as possible.
• Ask yourself WHY? and SO WHAT? after each sentence/claim to help you develop your explanation. Don’t assume the reasoning is obvious.
• Don’t worry yet about thesis/organization/structure. Just work to get all of your ideas and thinking about your focus on the page.
