1. Social Institutions

In the United States, social institutions (such as churches, schools, boys & girls clubs just to name a few) play a pivotal role in controlling and preventing antisocial (criminal) behavior.

In a response to this Discussion, identify a social institution that plays a role in controlling and/or preventing crime.  Using no more than 2 to 3 sentences, tell us about a personal observation that you have made about that institution and its respective role in the war on crime.

2. Victims of Crime

In our communities, there are certain categories of the population that are more susceptible than others to becoming victims of crimes.  For example, runaway youths and the elderly are two categories of individuals that tend to be victimized for a variety of reasons.

In a response to this Discussion, select a category of individuals that are statically more likely to become victims of crime.  In 2 to 3 sentences, give us a theory as to why you believe that particular group is vulnerable to being victimized.
