Chapter 1: Introduction
Construction industry provides a very important ingredient for the development of economies of both developed and developing countries. The industry is responsible for the development of essential infrastructural projects for transportation, energy, housing, water and sanitation and many others. Without the construction industry, the society cannot achieve its goal of urban and rural development (Al-Razek, Bassioni & Mobarak, 2008). However, developing countries do not have adequate infrastructure to support the lives of the people living there, and construction industry is still growing. Many developing countries are currently building their basic infrastructural projects like railways, roads and bridges. Construction of these types of projects requires highly sophisticated equipment and technologies to achieve the best results on the planned time (Ajibade & Henry, 2006
