Childhood and adolescent obesity (age range 2–19) in the U.S.
Task: You are employed as a Public Health Consultant and have been asked to
prepare a report on detailing ONE existing public health issue in a specific setting,
and propose a range of health promotion interventions aimed at alleviating the
problem.
The report should include the following components:
0 Title Page to include your name and title for your report.
0 Executive Summary of your chosen public health issue to include identification of
public health issue, brief contextual background, brief reference to existing data an
potential additional data needed, and summary of suggested health promotion
activities to address issue. (250 +/-10% words)
0 Section One: An identification and description of the public health issue to be
targeted, including the context and setting. (1,000 +/-10% words)
0 As part of this section, present and discuss publicly available data describing the
key health impacts and health inequalities related to your chosen public health issu
and comment on the strengths and limitations of the data in understanding the
targeted issue and context. This task is similar to what you did when considering th
data from the web sites used in Unit 3.
0 Use tables or graphs to enhance representation of relevant data.
0 Discuss additional data you might seek as part of a health needs assessment,
including a rationale for your choice(s).
0 Discuss the historical, political and cultural context factors in your description of th
issue and context.
0 Section Two: A set of health promotion activities you would recommend to addr
both the health impacts and the health inequalities identified in Section One. These
should address different levels of health determinants. (1,000 +/-10% words)
0 Begin with a bulleted summary of activities after an introductory paragraph.
0 Justify selected health promotion activities in relation to the theory of health
promotion they are based on.
0 Explain how and why health promotion interventions you are recommending are
relevant to the public health issues i relation to the documents
