Canadian Art History Essay Dissertation Help

The exam must be typed, double spaced, 12-point Times Roman type, standard one-inch margins, in WORD format.

Include endnotes at the end of the paper.

Include images, copied into WORD, with citations, after the endnotes, one image per page.

Include a title page with pertinent class information: your name, professor, your TA, class code, your student id #, the date. On the title page, indicate the question from the exam you have answered.

Write ONE essay. The essay should be a maximum of 4 pages in length (Maximum 1000 words, Minimum of 900 words, not including endnotes.)

Base your responses on:

-lectures

-course pack readings

-no additional sources

For your essay consider:

ONE to TWO course pack readings; ONE to TWO artists for a total of FOUR works of art.

The images you discuss should be from the class lectures and course pack readings.

While the information will come from the lectures and course pack readings be sure to include your own opinions, analyses, and discussion, to show that you have engaged with the images and texts. Keep quotations from the course pack to one to two sentences and use quotes only when they are important to prove a point.

Note: The answers to the question are in the form of essays, and as such, you are expected to write in essay format – i.e. in paragraphs and with a brief introduction and conclusion. Because this is short essay, it is best to choose a maximum of three major points you want to argue on the topic and explain your thoughts on these clearly and thoroughly. See syllabus: Guidelines on How to Write an Art History Paper.

Be sure to include an informed visual analysis of the paintings. Visual analysis is a close examination of a work, which is guided by both the work’s formal elements and information about the context in which the work was created. See syllabus: How to Analyse a Work of Art.

You are not writing a research essay. You are not required to do any research beyond the lectures and course pack readings. However, it is necessary to cite these sources in endnotes.

If you are citing the course pack, use Chicago Style Manual citations. See: Concordia Library’s resource on style guides: on the Assessments Page. http://library.concordia.ca/help/howto/citations.html#citing.

If you are citing a class lecture, include the number of the lecture in the endnotes, i.e., Lesson 2. You do not need to include the title of the lesson or the Professor’s name when citing the lectures. Also, you do not need to include a bibliography at the end of your essay.

Please remember to proofread your essay before submitting it. You are graded on the quality of your writing – your spelling, grammar, structure and clarity – as well as the content of your essay.

Important: The artist/s and the works of art you discuss for the exam essay should not be the same ones you wrote about in your Assignment 1 and Assignment 2. Also, the topic that you discuss for the exam essay must be different from the one that you wrote about in Assignment 1 and Assignment 2.
