Double spaced using business law terms — a suggestion from textbook Business Law the ethical, global and e commerce environment, or any other business law references to answer all questions listed below. No title page required but a reference page is required. APA format please!
You and your two friends (Bill Mates & Steve Hobs) are sitting on the couch watching a Yankees game. During a commercial break you see the hottest new board game being advertised called “Jump to the Conclusion”. The commercial shows a group of kids asking each other silly questions (Does Billy like me?) and then jumping on a mat with difference conclusions (Yes, No, Maybe, Ask Again).
The conversation between you, Bill and Steve turns to how ridiculous and stupid this game sounds. The commercial ends with the announcer saying… “and be one of the millions of people to buy the new hot game for the low, low price of only $29.99!”. The conversation quickly turns to shock thinking about how much money this ridiculous game is making.
For the rest of the game all you can think about is how to come up with a great money making idea. You can see that both Bill and Steve are thinking the same thought. Bill suggests that the three of you should think of an idea and go into business together. Steve starts blabbing on and on about all of the cool stuff he would buy with his millions. You chime in with a very important question… “what the heck would we sell?”
Bill volunteers his experience writing software code and maybe the group should think about developing an operating system to compete with Windows (since it’s useless, as Bill puts it). The software can be controlled by voice and hand gestures…like a sci-fi movie! Steve suggests an idea on how to revolutionize the way we watch TV by using everyone’s iPhone (for some reason Steve loves his iPhone) as a combo remote / video game controller.
Now it’s your turn… You need to come up with an idea that will make Bill and Steve’s jaws drop.

Question #1: Describe your idea in full detail. It can be anything you want. Be creative, innovative, and cutting edge. What new device / business / product would you love to have and need to buy? You can pick an existing product (iPhone) and how to improve upon it (similar to what Steve did in fact pattern) or you can come up with a completely new widget.
Please answer the following:
? What current products / companies would be your competition?
? What is your target audience or customer base?
? Why would someone want to spend their money on your product?
? How difficult will it be to make the new product? Will you need help or have to hire experts? If
so, how will you protect your rights and prevent this help from infringing on your rights?
? What steps can you take to protect your idea?
Question #2: Bill and Steve know that you are the “business brains” behind the new venture and put you in charge of protecting and commercializing this new idea. Before your new business can take off and start making millions, you must think about how to protect your rights. Please answer the following:
? Does your idea qualify as “patentable subject matter”? Why or why not?
? Would you rather protect this idea using a trade secret? If so, what are some ways you can
maintain the secrecy? What lengths would you go to protect against others stealing your idea?
? What would your trademark be? Describe the mark. How will you build a connection between
your mark and your potential customers?
Question #3: Now that you have the million dollar idea – what kind of business would you want to start?
? Pick between a partnership (GP, LP, LLP, or LLL) or corporation (Corp., S. Corp., LLC). Explain why
you decided to pick this type of business entity?
? Describe the personal liability you and any potential co-owners or employees would have with
the type of business entity you chose.
? Do you have to worry about being personally liable for the actions of the other co-owners?
? Describe the actions you would take to protect yourself from personal liability.
