Order Description
Please read the book “The Girls Who Fell from the Sky ”
choose one of the main character in the novel and then choose a social issues that is related to that character. This will be the main topic of your research paper.
2. The paper should have a clear thesis statement. The thesis statement should focus on one of the main characters and a social issue that is related to that character’s life.
Example #1
Rachel had to face many obstacles in her life and one of the most important was finding her identity as a bi-racal child.
Example #2
Growing up with a mother addicted to drugs .Brick had to overcome his own issue of substance abuse during his teen years.
Sources and Citations :
Utilize 5 sources, including the novel.
5 sources in text citations (quotes from sources with documentation )should be incorporated in the text of your research paper.
Format
This paper should be written in MLA format in 12 Point double-paced format with the following order ( a sample MLA formatted paper will be handed out to students ):
First page of the paper has the thesis and outline
6 pages of text
A bibliography (works cited )that lists of five sources.
Below is a general outline of the paper. Students need to add their own sub-ideas (A, B, C, AND D)to sections 2, 3, and 4.
1.Plot Summary (1 page ) in your own words , summarize the plot of the novel.
2. Character Analysis ( 2 pages )
A, B, C, and David In this section, avoid retelling the story and focus on the character you have chosen. Analysis focuses on the internal workings of a character, their motivation and personality, and how these factors shape /determine that happens to them. Discuss the personality of the character, the challenges /conflicts he /she faced, how he /she changed, and influences on his /her life.
Social Issue (2 pages )
A, B, C, and D Discuss a social issue related to the character that you chosen.
Discuss the issue in the context of the character’s development. In other words, relate what you have learned about this social issue to the character that you are focused on.
Evaluation of Novel
A, B, C, and D. In this section state if you recommend this novel. Discuss the strengths of the novel and any shortcomings you think it has.
