Bipolar Disorder Single Evidence-Based, Peer-Reviewed Journal Article Academic Essay

This assignment requires a single evidence-based, peer-reviewed journal article, not an opinion publication, or one reviewing or summarizing multiple writings or multiple researchers’ experimental studies. To be clear, do not use an article that just reviews other studies (almost like a book report), your article actually has to be a research experiment that was conducted specifically by that same author. Evidence-based means the article reports on a single experiment conducted by an article’s author(s). Peer-reviewed means an article in an academic journal that had to be approved by the journal’s editorial panel of scientific discipline experts.
Suggested Sources: This paper will include a description of the article’s main focus, a description of the experimental methodology (including the study sample, measures and analyses used, etc.), discussion of the results and related conclusions reached by the article’s authors, and a substantive closing paragraph describing two to three of your own original future research ideas that were inspired by the article.

Be sure to summarize your article without using any direct quotes. I can’t give anyone credit for material that was written by anyone else, so even if you use proper APA formatting when you quote the original author, a direct quote does not demonstrate that you understand what you read well enough to explain it in your own words.

The articles must come from the APUS library and be no more than 10 years old (so only articles published between 2006-2016 are acceptable). The articles must come from psychology journals, so don’t use articles that are from other professions such as medicine, law, business, or other professions even if they do come from the APUS library.
Essential sources: Because it reports on a single article, this assignment will only have one reference (the article you are summarizing) listed in the required APA formatted attached Reference list. There is no need to repeatedly use within text citations since everything you are writing is a summary of that one article. Use a within text citation once at the beginning of the paper, then the full citation on the reference page. The only other time you need to use additional within text citations is when you deviate from the original article to interject your personal thoughts (such as the last paragraph when you provide 2-3 original future research ideas), and then you begin to summarize the article once again.
Each member of our class will generate from article summaries classmates post on the Week 2 Forum a topic on which to base the course Literature Review Paper due later in the 8 weeks. Once a student decides which classmate’s article will determine the topic focus of his/her Literature Review Paper, the student must notify the course instructor of and receive approval for his or her Literature Review Paper focus choice via a Message sent from inside the classroom (not email) by the end of WEEK 3 of the course.

This assignment, like all others in the course, must be completed per the general writing standards. This assignment, like all others in the course, will be run through Turnitin.com, a plagiarism checker, so be certain that you are using proper APA formatting. You are not permitted to reuse any part of a paper you previously submitted to a different class, as this violates APU’s academic honesty policy. To learn more about the academic honesty policy, please click on the blue “policy” tab on the left side of the computer screen, see the main announcement page, or just ask me. The time to ask questions and have clarification is before you submit your assignment, as all violations are reported to APU’s plagiarism department upon receipt.
