A plea bargain provides the criminal defendant the opportunity to circumvent a trial for their original, more serious charge. There are many opinions regarding plea bargains and in this 2-4 page
paper you are asked to do the same:

Does the existence of plea bargaining weaken the criminal justice system by punishing offenders for less severe crimes?
Does a plea bargain make it more efficient by disposing of large numbers of cases relatively quickly?
Those who plead not guilty and proceed to trial and later found guilty are punished more severely and often for a more severe crime. Do you believe that plea bargaining is inherently unjust because
it generally promises less severe sentences in exchange for pleading guilty?
